AS BELAS E AS FERAS

It's impossible to determine an exact limit between the erotic and the pornographic. I have often, among friends, discussed it over, trying to debate the difference between the two, but the conclusions have always been controversial. Some admit that the pornographic is characterised by the explicit exhibition of sexual acts, as well as parts of the body, including the genitals, whereas the erotic deals more subtly with the presentation of the bodies.
However, from my point of view, the barrier isn't that obvious. You could distinguish eroticism from pornography through the participation, or lack of it, of the viewer in the sexual show. In pornography, there is a participation, through sexual arousal, while in eroticism, if if there is the awakening of desire, it isn't the main goal of the work to wake it up, but rather demand a distant intimacy, basicly seeking the knowledge of desire and pleasure that, at its limit, is a way of pleasure.
To represent this controversy, I leave you with Vlastimil Kula. Art or Pornography?

ART AND PORNOGRAPHY

Gjon Mili, born in 1904 in Albany, arrived in United States in 1923. Seven years later, through his work with Harold Eugene Edgerton of MIT, he made several photographic experiences of capturing sequences of actions using photoflash to immobilize the scene. He was one of earliest on using an electronic flash and a stroboscope light to create images which went beyond the common scientific uses.

Heiko Klug is a 25 years old German creative man who started to feel, more than tem years ago, the graphic career talent by the first time he got contact with the grafitti art. In 2004, with the informatics dissemination and amazing image editing softwares, he applied great part of his knowledge transposing the street drawing to a digital format. Nowadays, although his artistic gift, he still tries to find a place where he can work as a creative media designer. You can see some more images at his website.
